In order to achieve success on highly technical projects, Bonhag Associates utilizes analytical software to predict results. The use of analytical software is common in the mechanical and electrical field for predicting heat loss, cooling loss, thermal calculations, energy loss, lighting levels, sound levels, and vibration analysis. We have completed projects where the entire system including all of its components have been dynamically simulated in order to optimize the system results. In addition, we have developed very specific analysis software to achieve the results we want for our clients, such as our screening tool for wood chip cogeneration and our screening tool for fuel optimization.
By bringing innovation to processes, Bonhag Associates adds value to projects, either by lowering the operating costs of systems, by improving the product volume throughput, by improving the quality of the product, or all of these. We listen, ask questions, and consider other means to accomplish the process. This brainstorming is a real asset to our firm and provides our clients with unique results. In process design we have completed the design of systems such as compressed dehumidified air, hot and cold DI water, natural and propane gas, liquid nitrogen and gaseous nitrogen, oxygen, medical gases, and other rare gases. We have designed process exhaust systemsboth non-explosion proof and explosion proof, supply and process makeup air systems for various projects, as well as electrical and electronically controlled process systems. We have also installed specialized process systems such as explosion vents, rupture disks on vessels and flammable systems.
- Composting Facility: Evaluated the requirements of an air handling system for proper ventilation, dehumidification and corrosion control in the composting facility while reducing energy costs.
- Explosives Manufacturing Facility: Designed a process system to remove solvents from exhaust streams generated in the process of manufacturing plastique explosives. The system was required to meet federal, state and local environmental VOC requirements.
- Filter Manufacturing Plant: Provided analysis, design and commissioning of a process system to manufacture filters of various sizes and specifications that required a solid state, variable flow, variable temperature variable relative humidity system with DCS controls.
- Lighting Manufacturing Facility: Eliminated the static charge on laminations in the production of lighting components.
- Textile Manufacturing Facility: Increased the production and quality of the textiles being manufactured at a large textile facility. Production was doubled and quality increased by 50 percent.
- Cogeneration Research and Development: Performed an analysis to determine the modeling of a cogeneration plant and matched the actual results in a research and development facility. The number of data runs that were completed provided correlation for wood chip technology.
- Natural Gas Cogeneration Screening Tool: Performed an analysis of various plants looking at natural gas cogeneration systems as an option to lower operating and energy costs in the plant. This analysis allows simulation of the proposed systems with multiple inputs and includes such factors as the utility cost, natural gas costs, financing costs, construction and engineering costs, operating, maintenance, repair and fuel costs, and other impact costs.
- Wood Chip Screening: Performed an analysis of various plants looking at wood chip cogeneration systems as an option to lower operating and energy costs in the plant. This analysis allows simulation of the proposed systems with multiple inputs and includes such factors as the utility cost, wood chip cost and moisture content, financing costs, construction and engineering costs, operating, maintenance, repair and fuel costs, and other impact costs. This process related screening tool performs a thermal and electric balance and calculates the balance point.
